A Perfect Pairing with a good dark beer

This past weekend we had our second bi-annual Pig Pick’n for the 4th.  I decided to make an assortment of brownies and along with the symphony brownies I made peanut-butter/bacon brownies.  I have had bacon brownies at numerous beer fests and they go great with a darker/maltier beer.  This is super simple and I made it up on the spot so I am sure you can turn it into your own if you happen to be more creative than me = )

 

Dark Chocolate, Peanut-Butter, and Bacon Brownies

  • 2 boxes of Duncan Hines dark chocolate brownie mix

    Head to the Greenville Beer Exchange and they will help you find the perfect beer to pair with these delicious brownies!

  • eggs
  • oil
  • water
  • baking spray
  • 1 bag of peanut-butter chips
  • 8-10 slices of bacon

 

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350º-375º.  Arrange bacon on baking sheet and cook for 15 minutes or until crispy.  Place cooked bacon on paper towels and press out grease and let cool.

 

Mix brownie mix in a large bowl.  spray 9×13 baking pan with baking spray and spread half of the batter into pan.  Arrange entire bag of peanut-butter chips over batter.  Crumble bacon and spread over chips.  Pour remaining batter on top and bake per box instructions.  Mine could have cooked longer so double-check that they are the way you like them before taking out of the oven.
