As many of you know, Will’s family takes a trip to Colorado almost every other winter. They have been so kind as to invite me every time and it has quickly become one of my new favorite traditions. This past year we traveled to Beaver Creek and one of our many pit stops off the slopes was a pizza joint called The Blue Moose Pizza. Besides having a great beer selection, their pizza was to die for. As soon as we returned to Greenville we went to work and made this delicious creation ourselves. Will and I really enjoy making our own pizzas because not only is it is way healthier than any pizza chain, it is also a lot of fun to make one together.
*this pizza can be found at the Blue Moose website.
- Thin Whole Wheat Pizza Crust (we buy already made dough, any kind will work)
- Bar-B-Que Sauce (we use Annie’s Organic Original…. sooo good!)
- Cooked sliced chicken (blackend if you like)
- Green Peppers
- Onions (we use red)
- Fresh minced cilantro
- Smoked Gouda cheese (buy a fresh block and shred yourself for more taste)
Preheat oven according to directions on back of pizza dough.
If you bought pre-made dough all you have to do is slap down the bar-b-que sauce and decorate however you like. We put down the sauce, add some cheese, add the rest of the ingredients and add more cheese to the top. Bake according to pizza dough.
We like to spray the crust with spray butter and sprinkle Cavender’s greek seasoning on the butter.
